New York, NY, July 18, 2019 …
ADL (Anti-Defamation League) today welcomed Argentina’s move to freeze the assets of the terrorist group Hezbollah using the newly decreed lists for designated terrorist entities. The move comes as the world marks the 25thanniversary of the terror attack on the AMIA Jewish Community Center on July 18, 1994, in which 85 people were killed and hundreds more injured.
“This step is long overdue given Hezbollah’s direct responsibility in perpetrating two terrorist attacks on Argentinian soil,” said ADL CEO Jonathan A. Greenblatt. “The danger Hezbollah posed 25 years ago continues to this day with the presence of terrorist sleeper cells operating in Latin America and elsewhere. We welcome this positive step from the Argentinean government.”
Hezbollah was directly responsible for perpetrating two terrorist attacks on Argentinian soil, the 1992 Israeli Embassy bombing and the 1994 attack on the AMIA, the Jewish Community Center, both following directives from the Iranian regime.
ADL calls on all world governments to fully designate Hezbollah as a terrorist group, especially in parts of Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa where the group is actively engaged.
