ADL STANDS IN SOLIDARITY WITH UK JEWISH COMMUNITY IN PROTEST AGAINST LABOUR’S ‘TOLERANCE OF ANTI-SEMITISM’

  • March 27, 2018

 New York, NY, March 26, 2018 …

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) stands in solidarity with the Board of British Deputies and the Jewish Leadership Council in the United Kingdom in their demands to end tolerance for anti-Semitism in the British Labour Party.

Jonathan A. Greenblatt, ADL CEO, issued the following statement:

“We stand in solidarity with the British Jewish community in their demands to end tolerance for anti-Semitism in the British Labour Party. We understand their frustration with Jeremy Corbyn’s repeated failure to listen to the community’s concerns when it comes to the far left’s obsessive hatred of Zionism and Israel.

Corbyn’s many statements opposing anti-Semitism are contradicted by his failure time and again to act against those who engage in anti-Semitism. It is high time for the British Labour Party to recognize that they have a serious problem with Jews and Israel.

We hope the British public at large will come out in force at today’s demonstration to show broad rejection of anti-Semitism and support for the Jewish community.”

In an open letter, the Jewish community of Great Britian said it had had enough of hearing that Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn “opposes anti-Semitism” while the mainstream majority of British Jews, and their concerns, are ignored by him and those he leads.  The statement cited Corbyn’s support for the artist who created a blatantly anti-Semitic mural, his expression of friendship with Hezbollah and Hamas, and his standing with those who support blatantly anti-Semitic views as a pattern that finds him siding with anti-Semites “again and again.”
