ADL APPLAUDS FBI FOR ARREST OF TWO MEN CONDUCTING SURVEILLANCE OF JEWISH AND ISRAELI LOCATIONS IN U.S.

  • August 22, 2018

New York, NY, August 21, 2018 …

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today applauded the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for the arrest of two men for allegedly conducting covert surveillance of Jewish and Israeli facilities in the U.S. on behalf of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The men, one a dual US-Iranian citizen and the other an Iranian citizen living in California, were arrested on August 9 and charged yesterday for conducting surveillance of the Rohr Chabad House, a Jewish institution in Chicago, in July 2017.

“We commend and thank the FBI for disrupting the alleged intelligence gathering efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a nation with a long record of involvement in, and support for, terror attacks against Jewish and Israeli institutions,” said Jonathan Greenblatt, ADL CEO and National Director. “Cooperation among law enforcement and the people and communities they serve is essential to safeguarding us from extremism and terrorism. We deeply appreciate the Bureau’s commitment to that principle.”
